The Hodgson Law Firm LLC has filed a class action against Corecivic (formerly CCA, or Corrections Corporation of America) and Securus Technologies, Inc. The Plaintiffs allege that the Defendants improperly recorded phone calls between attorneys and detainees at the CCA-Leavenworth Facility. The plaintiffs are attorneys who had their calls improperly recorded. Plaintiffs brought civil claims in Missouri Federal Court against Corecivic and Securus in conjunction with a criminal investigation pending in Kansas Federal Court, USA v. Black, et. al., Case No. 16-CR-20032-JAR. The plaintiffs seek damages on behalf of themselves and a class of similarly situated servers. On May 31, 2018, Plaintiffs filed a Motion for Class Certification to have the matter certified as a class action pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 23.
